The 'National Student Innovation Challenge' (NSIC) is a unique PAN-India contest organised by eVidyaloka. It's a catalyst for student innovation and leadership, guiding Grade 7 students to tailor solutions for unique community challenges.
It embodies a bold vision, brought to life through global volunteers' mentorship. This challenge transcends borders, uniting student advocates from rural to urban areas in a dynamic online space, where ideas spring to life.

At Government Upgraded Middle School in Chachgura, students once trekked up a hill daily, not for exercise but to fetch water for the school. When two students from classes 6 and 7 joined the National Students Innovation Challenge, they focused on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Guided by their mentor, they discovered that their school could access a pipe water facility through the Swajal Scheme. Driven by determination, they petitioned local authorities and secured the installation of a borewell, transforming their school and village with clean, accessible water. Their journey, from contest to triumph, brought lasting change.
In Konamangalam, Tamil Nadu, two twelve-year-old students transformed their family’s flower business by turning unsold flowers into incense sticks. Their parents, humble village florists, struggled to make ends meet, inspiring the children to help. Through the National Student innovation Challenge (NSIC), they analyzed their family’s income and found that unsold flowers were a financial loss. With their mentor’s guidance, they began producing and selling incense sticks, eventually earning an additional Rs. 500 to Rs. 800 per month. This small yet impactful innovation provided their families with much-needed savings for their education. Every rupee saved counts toward a brighter future.
Team Gyan Amrit Edustars brought together four passionate students from Bhorwadi Village in Maharashtra and an international school in Bangalore. United by their belief in education, they chose the UN’s Quality Education goal as their focus. Despite language and cultural barriers, the rural students tackeld their local challenges, while the urban students used technology to craft innovative solutions in various areas through solutions like Study Notes Khazana, Sawal Jawab Zone and Pragati Path. Their teamwork and determination led them to victory in the competition. Beyond winning, this journey validated the rural students’ capabilities and showed the urban students the power of applying their knowledge to real-world problems.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, would be the basis, there will be a list of focus statements, the team can choose to work on one of them.
This needs 3-4 months spanning from Oct to Dec-Jan. Minimum commitment of 2-3 hours per week.
Rural Team - Any volunteer teacher with eVidyaloka
Urban Team - An adult with a passion to teach and groom children and help them bring about a change in their community
Mentor needs to play a significant role.
Through video calls as per the convenience of the team. Preferably during school hours. However, after school hours/weekends are also permitted. The mentor will initiate the call. For rural eVidyaloka centres, the Class Assistant will facilitate the call.
A jury panel external to eVidyaloka. A distinguished set of people from different fields with a bunch of subject matter experts.
The children will be presenting the projects as an online submission, virtually and in-person at various stages. Mentors will be briefed in advanced.
A google form will be made available on the website prior to the date of submission with necessary information and guidelines. Periodic orientation sessions will also be conducted by the eVidyaloka team.
The presentations/submissions can be in English or regional language or a combination of the two.
Mentors are requested to visit the website, check their mails regularly and pro-actively interact with the core group for any questions and assistance.
The team that has been approved in the beginning of the program will continue to stay until the completion.
